I couldn’t create a website about books without referencing my favorites from childhood. When I was two years old, in the 1960s, I was in an accident which severed two of my fingers completely off. My fingers were bandaged for an entire year. Because I was just learning to use my hands, my brain became confused between right and left, which in turn caused me to become dyslexic.
At the end of first grade my teacher told my parents I couldn’t read. That began my life long quest to improve myself. I wasn’t born with dyslexia, so I was able to reverse it, but it wasn’t until junior high school that I could read and do math correctly.
I was required to read every single day, and couldn’t wait to read books like Charlie and Chocolate Factory, James and The Giant Peach, and of course, everything by Doctor Seuss! How I wished I could write like him! If you have a young sibling, child, or grandchild, one of the best things you can do for them is to share these wonderful books.
